When hotpot and cooked dishes share a warming tray, give each utensil a clear role: raw-food tongs add ingredients, a clean skimmer lifts fully cooked food, serving chopsticks handle the surrounding cooked dishes, and personal chopsticks are for eating. A utensil that has touched raw ingredients should not go straight to ready-to-eat food.
A cooler holiday table still needs raw and cooked food kept apart
China Weather’s nationwide forecast issued at 08:00 on October 4 reports wind and cooling across central and eastern Inner Mongolia, North China, Huanghuai and Jianghan on October 4–5. If a family meal includes hotpot, plan how ingredients enter the pot and how cooked food leaves it. Check the latest local forecast for your area.
China CDC’s food-safety guidance calls for separate handling of raw and cooked ingredients, clean utensils and thorough cooking of meat, eggs and seafood. WHO’s Five Keys to Safer Food also include cleanliness, separation and thorough cooking. At the table, those principles translate into keeping each tool on its assigned task.
Four roles, from adding ingredients to eating
- Add ingredients: Keep raw meat and seafood in dedicated containers and use raw-food tongs to put them in the pot. Keep them apart from cooked dishes; the outer warming area is not a place to cook raw food slowly.
- Lift cooked food: Once food is fully cooked, use a clean utensil reserved for cooked food. A tool that has contacted uncooked ingredients cannot immediately serve ready-to-eat food.
- Serve dishes: Use serving chopsticks or spoons for the cooked dishes around the pot. Keep raw-food tongs and personal chopsticks out of those shared plates.
- Eat: Personal bowls and chopsticks stay personal. If tools are mixed up, replace them with clean spares and clean and disinfect the used utensils appropriately. A quick dip in broth is not a substitute.
Cooking in the center, warming around it
ZVVEN’s current product descriptions distinguish a central hotpot area from an overall outer warming area. On a model with the relevant functions, the compatible central pot cooks food while suitable surrounding plates hold dishes that have already been cooked. A device setting alone cannot establish that food is fully cooked.
Check the model, central heating method and cookware compatibility. The cookware and plate guide explains those differences. Before serving, adding broth or replacing a plate, stop the turntable and coordinate movements; see the pause-and-serve routine.
Make the roles easy to follow
Keep the tools easy to distinguish, explain their roles before the meal and prepare clean spares. After dining, stop use, disconnect power and let the appliance cool fully before cleaning and storage, following the model’s instructions.
